Bring Light. Share Joy.

Join our volunteer team and help a child learn

Volunteers are a vital part of Frist Place programs and activities. We welcome students, adults and service groups as supporters of our work. Over 300 people provide more than 5,208 hours of volunteer service to First Place annually.

OPPORTUNITIES

Mentoring

We have immediate opportunities available for volunteers to do one-on-one mentoring of students. Mentors help children learn to form friendships with healthy boundaries.

Tutoring
We have opportunities available in the Fall and the Spring for volunteer tutors.  Teachers provide lesson plans and materials. The minimum time commitment is one hour per week with one student, with tutoring scheduled at the same time each week.

Teacher's Assistant

We continuously seek teacher's assistants to support students’ learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

Inspiring
If you can inspire our students with a unique skill or interest that you’d like to share, let’s talk. We routinely schedule field trips and classroom visits that allow our students to interact with diverse professionals, philanthropists, business people, artists, and retirees.

Requirements

Each volunteer must complete a volunteer application and pass a Washington State Patrol background check.

Volunteers working directly with children must be at least 15 1/2 years old. If you are younger, you can still help by hosting a donation drive or through other creative giving ideas!
